1% Glamour, 99% Efficacy

Specialty store shelves are stocked with beauty products that promise glitz and glamour yet fail to deliver the results that I endlessly hope for. Kerasal's Callus Removal Cleansing Pads are a new addition to beauty shelves and thankfully, they are the parallel opposite.

No frills resealable packaging contains ten cleanser-moistened abrasive pads that gently remove rough skin and stubborn calluses on feet. The cleansing pads are a bargain at $5.99 SRP and hit Wal*Mart stores this month, perfectly timed for sandal season!

Because Mom Deserves the Very Best...

but no one will fault you for paying a bit less! OK, so I'm no poet; that's for sure. Nonetheless, forget the trite chocolates or mani/pedi certificates this Mother's Day (mark your calendars for Sunday, May 13) and instead choose a fabulous new fragrance that mom will adore.

One new resource that I'm loving is fragranceX, a great online retailer that offers high end fragrances at a discount. Yves Saint Laurent Babydoll, normally: $35, on fragranceX.com: $20.79

Singin' in the Rain

Skip over those puddles in style this spring with these adorable rubber flats from Marc Jacobs. Available in black or red at Saks for $155.

Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me...

We've discussed my love of lipgloss. This, dear readers, is old news. However, these sweet little Flirt! Squeeze Me Super Shiny Lipglosses just crossed my desk and feel compelled to share a kind word or two.

Just glossy enough, not tacky at all and available in a wide range of skin-flattering shades, the Flirt! glosses are a steal for any lip product lover at a mere $10 per.

And this just in, C-lister Vanessa Minnillo (former Miss Teen USA and the host of MTV's Total Request Live) has been named 'guest creator" for the Flirt! line. Her collaboration hits shelves in August. Keep your eyes peeled for it!

Not the Ordinary Beauty Pageant, That is For Sure.

Make Me Heal Celebrates Natural Beauty with Enhancement
The World’s First Ever Cosmetic Surgery and Anti-aging Awards Event

Los Angeles, CA – Make Me Heal (http://www.makemeheal.com/), the leading portal for plastic surgery and anti-aging, announced today that they will be launching the first ever cosmetic surgery and anti-aging awards event celebrating natural beauty with enhancement, The Beauty Enhancement Awards (BEA).

The Beauty Enhancement Awards allow women and men of all ages and races to compete for various categories, from best makeover in different age categories, best liposuction, best breast augmentation, and best tummy tuck, to best plastic surgeon, and best couple makeover.
Open to the public, any person can apply to be a contestant and any member of the public can vote for their favorite contestants directly on the Makemeheal.com website during the First Round (March 1 to May 31, 2007). Winners of the First Round advance to the Second Round (last week of June 2007) and the Finals (second week of July 2007), with winners from both these rounds being decided by a panel of top surgeons, beauty professionals, and celebrity judges. The contestant application deadline is April 30, 2007.

In addition to being able to follow the 5-month contest on the Makemeheal.com website, the latter two rounds will be broadcast live on television. The website will include intimate interviews with contestants, contestant diaries, live chats, and interactive features. The Second Round and Contest Finals will be televised and include numerous educational segments about plastic surgery, and guest appearances from plastic surgeons and beauty professionals, including one of the most published and innovative Board Certified Plastic Surgeons, Richard Ellenbogen, M.D.

The Beauty Enhancement Awards aims to educate the public about how to make informed decisions about these important life choices and to empower people with information and resources about everything from how to choose the right physician, what procedure options are available, to what are the best of today's techniques, and how one should prepare and best recover from a procedure.

“The mission of the Beauty Enhancement Awards is to shine a light on the science and art of cosmetic surgery,” Ariel Perets, President of Make Me Heal commented. “The event will not be a parade of unattainable beauty, but rather a display of real people who have had great results which can be realistically achieved if one educates themselves with respect to having cosmetic surgery. That is the mission of our company and now the awards.”

Winners will receive a combination of products and proceeds from the event will benefit associations that provide reconstructive procedures for people with congenital defects, casualties of war, and breast cancer research. Some proceeds will be earmarked towards a private fund created by Make Me Heal for investing in female-owned start-up/entrepreneurial businesses. The contestant application deadline is April 30, 2007 and one can apply on the website at: www.makemeheal.com/contests.

Well, readers? What do you think?
