Exclusive Get the Look & Giveaway: Katy Perry at the Met Ball

The Model As Muse: Embodying Fashion Costume Institute Gala - Arrivals

My girl crush Katy Perry left whimsy behind for this week's Met Gala appearance.  Her architectural gown jived nicely with the chic and glamorous hairstyle created by Pasquale Ferrante of New York's ION Studio. Read on for a bit of exclusive scoop on Katy's Met Gala look:

e4s: What was your inspiration for the look?

PF: Cleopatra. She’s a beautiful, strong, and independent woman just like Katy.

e4s: How involved was Katy in the direction for the hair?

PF: Katy was very involved in the direction of the hair. She is fantastic to work with because she knows what she wants, but is also open to developing her vision with both myself and her makeup artist. I think her look really came together, evoking Cleopatra – the dress really chose her. She looked beautiful.

e4s: Any key products or techniques to get the look?

PF: I used a variety of Davines products. After washing her hair, I sprayed in Dede Leave-in Conditioner and added Defining Volume Mousse for extra volume. After blow drying her hair straight, I used a 1 ½ inch curling iron to add volume and depth to her ends. To finish, I secured the style by spraying Defining Invisible Hairspray.

To win a set of the Davines products that Pasquale Ferrante used to create Katy Perry's gorgeous look, leave a comment below telling me one of your hair woes. One lucky winner will be chosen at random next Wednesday night!

UPDATE: THE WINNER IS MARIA OF I FEEL PRETTY.  CONGRATS!

i have WAY too much hair (even though it's pin straight), probably three whole heads worth so I have to thin out more than half the volume of my hair for it to look normal. even when i do, my hair is still huge and thick and it requires a lot of shampoo!

My hair has gotten finer as I've gotten older, so now I have no volume!

My hair woe is definitely the frizzies. Being "blessed" with naturally curly hair, I have alot of things conspiring to give me an afro on any given day.

My hair woe is that I have uncontrollable frizz and fly-aways! My hair tends to always get static and it becomes quite a hassle!

My hair is falling out due to illness, and what little is left is baby-fine and damaged from lightening to blend the color with my scalp so that the contrast doesn't look as obvious.

My hair is generally well behaved except for the small fly aways at my part. Since it toward the top of my head it look like a plume of wispy feathers to me. I don't like to wear hairspray or lots of any heavy product, but that is what it usually takes to make them lie down. The 'Invisible hairspray' sounds like it would be lighter....I would love to try the Davines line of products....this is a really great giveaway!

i get very frizzy hair when i leave it air dry naturally to get waves. or if i put in wave spray and use a diffuser it's still frizzy.

My hair is thick, curly and dry so I use momo lotion to tame it when I blow dry. This works great when combined with pearatine (another line my stylists uses).

My hair is too soft, fine textured and goes way too flat/limp....It needs texture. lift and body. That's all Shocked) The good thing is that my daughter has her father's thick beautiful hair, not mine Shocked)
