RiRi (Hearts) MAC Summer is Here and You Want It All

Regardless of how you feel about Rihanna's music, Instagram snaps or love life, there's one thing we can all agree on - girl's gorgeous, k? And, accordingly, so is the new RiRi Hearts MAC Summer Collection, which includes not only a reissue of RiRi Woo, (only THE most gorgeously lush red lipstick on MAC's already admirable roster of reds), but ALSO these beauties:

  • RiRi Boy Matte Vivid Lavender Lipstick
  • Heaux Matte Berry Lipstick
  • Hibiscus Kiss Powder Blush Duo
  • Barbados Girl Lustre Drops (for that island-only glow, you know?)

RiRi Hearts MAC is sure to sell out in snap, so if you're interested, I'd hustle on over here.

Dr. Gross Wants Me to Stay Young Forever

DG Skincare is one of my go-to skincare collections, and as someone with troubled skin, that means a lot. As oft-discussed, I'm nothing short of obsessed with the Alpha Beta Peel Pads, which not only fight the signs of aging, but also brighten skin visibly after just one treatment. So, you can imagine my glee over today's QVC-exclusive Today's Special Value - Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare’s The Wrinkle Fighters, an exclusive set of three anti-aging essentials, including:

  • Ferulic Acid + Retinol Brightening Solution (I use this pre-moisturizer, day and night)
  • Ferulic + Retinol Triple Correction Eye Serum (this is a gloriously non-irritating eye serum that can be applied around the entire eye area - above, below and in the delicate corners prone to crow's feet)
  • Original or Extra Strength 45-Day Jumbo Alpha Beta Peel (these are the plus-sized pads, which allow you to extend treatment below to neck and decolletage, an area often neglected in skincare regimens)

The Wrinkle Fighters is available today ONLY at QVC for a very special TSV price of $124.95 ($260 value) while supplies last. Snag it while you can!

Go for the Gold: Kate Somerville

When my most gloriously golden friend (CLEARLY BBJ's Amber, who loves all things gilded, aureate, Liberace-esque) tells me to "get involved" with a sunless tanner, I pay attention.

Such is the case with Kate Somerville's astonishingly well-formulated Somerville360° Body Self Tanning Towelettes and also Face Self Tanning Pads. These easy-peasy single-use packettes (the Face formulation even comes ready to go on a mini finger mitt) can be applied (post-exfoliation, of course - let's not get crazy) in mere moments, and over the course of the next 3-4 hours, the MOST divinely natural tan develops, with not a hint of that telltale, from a bottle scent we've all come to know and disdain.

Sephora conveniently offers up the Golden Glow Kit at the moment, which pairs six of each (Body Towelettes and Face Pads) with Kate's ExfoliKate® Intensive Exfoliating Treatment. This cult fave scrub is a bit much for my sensitive facial skin, but was nothing short of a savior on my newly uncasted and thereby under-exfoliated right arm. The Golden Glow Kit is an $80 value, but you can pick it up for just $58 here or at a Sephora near you - voila, the world's most perfect sunless tan!

You're Invited: A Dare to Bare Twitter Party (with NIVEA!)

Temperatures are heating up this week and between steamy rooftop drinks dates and Memorial Weekend fast approaching, my mind's on my skin, and how best be ready to bare it all (well, okay, most of it) in short shorts and sweet summer dresses.

NIVEA feels me, thankfully, and tomorrow, we'll be spending some QT together, chatting all things Summer skin, live on Twitter at 12PM EST! Tune in and follow along @eye4style and @NIVEAUSA, using hashtag #DARETOBARE - we're here to talk summer style and beauty - no stone will be left unturned!

Participants will have a chance to win their own Dare To Bare Challenge kit, seen above, which includes NIVEA's amazing Skin Firming Lotion with Q10. This baby is a godsend for super hydrated and fresh smelling legs, and it even firms up and adds resiliency to skin.

Around Town (Rooftop Edition)

Spring has finally arrived in New York, and so, it's only fitting that this week has been resplite with rooftop events. I'm still on the mend from my broken wrist, so please forgive the abbreviated recap below - words are at a premium these days!

Wednesday evening kicked off as few Wednesdays do - with a shower of sorts for bride-to-be and avid Twitterer Chrissy Teigen. Gillette Venus did up right for their longtime spokeswoman and also successfully kicked off 'shave season' with the introduction of their Gillette Venus & Olay Sugarberry razor. It smells sweet and keeps legs exfoliated and ultra-smooth (it's hard not to be smooth with five blades in the mix), no shave cream required!

Then it was off to the West Village to Too Faced's sweet Summer-themed event, complete with (spiked) Lemonade Stand (seen above) and petite classic summertime treats - think corn dogs and salt water taffy! Of course, Too Faced is best known for easy-to-use and high impact makeup, and the myriad of bronzers in their collection are definite summer essentials - particularly if you're like me and rapid about sun protection.

Last but not least, my friends at MYHABIT kicked off summer and (more importantly), their Swim & Sun-themed events in lifestyle, home, fashion and beauty with a poolside party downtown on the roof of the Hotel Americano. Swanky!

Cheers to gorgeous weather, y'all!

To Your Skin's Rescue: Kiehl's

Last week was pretty much a week that I'd rather forget, for a myriad of reasons. And at the bottom of that list (though it would normally lie at the top) is the havoc wreaked on my skin by copious amounts of travel, and even greater amounts of stress.

Thankfully, Kiehl's newest product - Skin Rescuer - landed on my desk at a particularly opportune moment. This unique product is designed specifically to reduce the visible signs of stress on skin - which, by the by, include dryness, blotchiness and redness (eep!)

Skin Rescuer can be used in a few different ways (even as a primary moisturizer), but how I've found it most effective is as either a "spot treatment" for excessively dehydrated areas or as essentially a primer to the Laura Mercier Oil-Free Tinted Moisturizer I use daily.

The impact is immediate in terms of hydration and a certain sense of...skin CALMNESS. Think of Skin Rescuer as the equivalent of a Hatha yoga class for your dermis.

Shop Skin Rescuer online - a bottle is $40 - at Kiehls.com.

All of the Orange My Heart Desires is in the New MAC Hayley Williams Collection

I was always a tried and true red or pink girl, until in recent seasons, when orange just began to feel inexplicably fresh.

Perhaps it's the inherently sunny and zesty qualities, but I love, love, love how the hue complements lips and tips, in particular. Thankfully, MAC's clearly feeling orange too, with their introduction of the brand new Hayley Williams collection.

For those not in the know, Hayley's the flame-haired singer of insanely huge band Paramore and an unmistakable, though quirky beauty. The four-piece collection created in her honor includes limited-edition Riot Gear Nail Lacquer (amazing) and orange-orange (not red-orange, an important distinction) Sounds Like Noise Lipstick as well as the shimmering coral frost of Daydreaming Eye Shadow and Lightscapade Mineralize Skinfinish.

Get loud and most importantly, get orange - online exclusively now at MAC.

Meet Jimmy Choo Flash

If shoes are the ultimate accessory (and I do believe they are), then fragrance is a close second. Marry a fragrance created by one of the world's preeminent shoe brands - e.g. Jimmy Choo's new Flash - and you've piqued my interest.

Billed as an-ultra modern white floral, Flash is sweet, effervescent and above all, high-energy. The juice is suited to a young woman, with notes of pink pepper, strawberry, tuberose, jasmine, and white lily, with heliotrope and white woods at the base; while the faceted bottle feels ultra-glam, and in fact, its inspiration came from a modernist chandelier from the 1970's - the perfect harbinger for the perfume itself.

Jimmy Choo Flash ranges in price from $75-98. Shop it exclusively at Nordstrom.

bliss fuzz-off Gives the Finger to Facial Hair

As a woman of Italian heritage, I'm actually pretty lucky in the facial hair department. As in, I have little to none (AMEN). But even less swarthy girls like me can find something to love in the latest to launch from bliss spa, fuzz-off.

This fresh-smelling hair removal cream (really, there's no pesky smell of burning hair whatsoever!) both applies and removes effortlessly, in large part due to a dual-sided applicator, which is textured on one end to sweep away both the product itself and the hair. In just three to five minutes, even the sturdiest, most determined hair can be whisked away without irritation, thanks to soothing blue daisy in the ingredients list.

If you're in the mood to give facial hair the finger, snag bliss fuzz-off for $24 here.

(Five) Wholly Unglamorous Products I'd Rather Not Live Without

There are a LOT of beauty products that I love for purely superficial reasons - they smell amazing, they're packaged beautifully, they're from an exotic and foreign land...you get the idea. I'm a shallow girl, what can I say (for more on those, follow my Get Glam board on Pinterest)? But on the other end of the spectrum (yes, there is another end of the spectrum), there are those products that I love but talk about rarely, and generally in hushed tones - the unglamorous ones, the ones who get some of the most important beauty business done.  Five of the essentials:

  • Sally Hansen's line of nail care products are really, truly among the best out there - at any price point. The fact that they're affordable is just a bonus. The Insta-Dri Anti-Chip Top Coat ($5.99) is among my at-home mani essentials - in fact, I just layered it over the also inpenetrable French Lilac from JinSoon, and accordingly, I expect my manicure to last until the end of time.
  • I really don't like to skimp on my body moisturizer, but some tubs are priced so extravantly, I feel as if I must. Not the case with the newly reformulated Smoothing Body Lotion with Cocoa and Shea Butters ($2.99) by Suave - this giant pump bottle really delivers on the moisturization, even through the miserably cold weather we've been having in New York, and it smells deliciously rich to boot.
  • I was recently scolded by my waxer for not being dilgent enough about ingrown hair prevention. Thankfully, it was that week exactly that the new Medicated After Shave Spray ($7.99) by Bikini Zone crossed my desk.  This unique formula includes a topical analgesic that penetrates skin to stop irritation, pain and redness. Use after almost any kind of hair removal - shaving, waxing or depilatory - to avoid pesky and unsightly ingrowns. The spray is fast-drying and simple to use - just a spritz out of the shower and you're good to go.
  • Facial wipes are an absolute ESSENTIAL in my book as I'm often too tired or (more accurately) too lazy to be as diligent as I should be in my evening skincare routine. Simple's are among the, well, simplest, and thereby best. At just $5.69 for a pack of 25, you can choose from a complete range - Classic, Radiance, Exfoliating or my pick, Oil Balancing, which boasts Glycerin and Zinc as well as anti-inflammatory natural lipid Phytosphingosine.
  • Perhaps it's because Mercury is currently in retrograde, but these days, I'm experiencing a previously unfamiliar level of STRESS. Neat, right? The peeps at Secret came to the rescue, though, with their new Clinical Strength Stress Response ($7.99). Smelling delightfully of citrus, this solid anti-perspirant and deo helps protect you (and your neighbors!) from stress sweat-induced odor and wetness. You can use it at any time, but consider this to be a pre-date, pre-interview and pre-presentation essential.

What wholly unglam products do you rely on?
