Reviewed, Approved: Collective Wellbeing Cleansing Paste

When a dermatologist confirmed that I had "sensitive skin," I was amazed.  Apparently, the world is full of women who think that they have sensitive skin and actually don't...but I was the rare exception.  What can I say? I am specia.

But, of course, taking care of sensitive skin is a total bitch.  Pardon my French. I need to be VERY, very careful when choosing products or changing my skincare routine, so I was hesitant to try Collective Wellbeing's Cleansing Paste ($13).  Thankfully, I was pleasantly surprised.

This thick oatmeal and raspberry based natural cleanser removes dirt and oil, without leaving skin stripped.  Apparently, the oatmeal has high fiber content which aids in the absorption of debris while the raspberries contain fruit acids that work to VERY gently exfoliate skin.

You can snag Collective Wellbeing products, including the Cleansing Paste, at stores nationwide and also at www.collectivewellbeing.com

Spa at Home Sunday: Sleep Scentsations

Chamomile tea and counting sheep may be traditional ways of winding down and settling in for the night but the folks at Sleep Scentsations had a better idea.

Their scented, disposable pillow liners are infused with delightful aromatherapy blends like Fresh Cut Grass, White Tea & Lily and a favorite of mine, Day at the Beach. Simply pop one inside your pillow case (they have an adhesive backing) and breathe deeply - it's a really simple but wonderful and relaxing spa experience for the bedroom.

Sleep Scentsations scents are bold but never overwhelming and are said to last 2-5 days (though each of the liners that I tried lasted 5+ days easily.)

Snatch up a set ($19.99/8) for yourself at www.sleepscentsations.com.

Quote of the Day: Liv Tyler on the Spray Tan Experience

I'm happy with my weird pale skin. I tried to do a spray tan once, and the whole experience was so strange - standing there naked with a mask on my fave while someone sprayed me. I kept thinking, the things we do for beauty are so funny. It wasn't for me.

Blossom Gets a Makeover (What Not To Wear-Style)

Opening Of Cavalia

After viewing the photo of actress Mayim Bialik above (Blossom, remember her?), it should come as no surprise whatsoever that she's a makeover candidate.

The producers over at TLC's What Not To Wear agree, so the delightful Stacy London and Clinton Kelly will be making her over when the new season premieres next Friday, May 22. Tune in at 9 PM EST.

Also new for season 7? A new portion of the show that breaks down exactly what each contributor was able to purchase with their shopping card. About damn time!

Sniff This: Memoire Liquide Bespoke Perfumery

A little more than a year ago, I paid a visit to the ABSOLUTE SPLENDOR that is Studio Beautymix at Fred Segal in Santa Monica.  Created by Robin Coe-Hutshing (also the founder of BURN Candles), Studio Beautymix stocks one of the very best  niche beauty assortments around.  One counter that caught my eye immediately was Memoire Liquide Bespoke Perfumery

The tempting, yet intimidating, collection boasts 160 fragrances in 10 categories that can blended, layered or worn solo.  My friend and I each caved on a Trio Set of three 0.25 oz bottles ($90) and I've been wearing and loving them ever since.  When I came home, though, it was impossible to find Memoire Liquide anywhere - even online.  Until now.

Launched this week, the new Memoire Liquide counter at Bloomingdale's houses 75 of the collection's fragrances. I paid the counter a first visit this week to meet with founders Jennifer Coe-Bakewell and Coe-Hutshing and managed to leave with yet another Trio of scents - the blood orange L'Orange Sanguine, airy Nymphea and The au Jasmin, a jasmine tea concoction.

If you love the memories that fragrance can evoke as well as the creativity and playfulness of mixing and matching your favorite scents, Memoire Liquide will be right up your alley.  Visit the counter at Bloomingdale's 59th Street or www.memoireliquide.com

Fall 2009 Preview: Rachel | Rachel Roy Accessories

Rachel | Rachel Roy, the new diffusion collection by designer Rachel Roy for Macy's, has me in a frenzy of anticipation.  I recently paid a visit to the showroom and snapped some great images of my very favorite accessories in the line - from shoes to bags to jewelry. And, OH, the jewelry! It's amazing.

Rachel | Rachel Roy hits Macy's stores in September, retail prices will range from $59-$299.

Take a little gander through the gallery and let me know in the comments what YOU think of the line!

Fall 2009 Preview: T.J. Maxx & Marshalls

The Fall 2009 preview for T.J. Maxx and Marshalls was held earlier this week at the chic Hudson Hotel (I'm hard pressed to think of a location more DIVINE in New York.)

While off-price buyers tend to buy a bit closer to the season than department stores, there was still a great assortment of home goods and my focus: jewelry, shoes and apparel. For a sneak peek at what'll be in store this fall, check out the gallery!
