If there are two things that I love in the world, they're burlesque queen Dita Von Teese and a nice, stiff Margarita. The kind folks at Cointreau bring it all together for me post-Cinco de Mayo with the first of three viral webisodes, featuring Dita herself as socialite Margarita Sames, said to be the namesake of the legendary cocktail.
According to lore, it was at one of Sames’ famed parties at her Cliffside hacienda in Acapulco that she began experimenting with “the drink” that would later be named in her honor. Looking for something refreshing to combat the humid afternoon, she mixed top-shelf tequila, Cointreau and fresh lime juice. Her cocktail was so delicious and intoxicating, that it kept the party going for two full weeks! Not long after Margarita’s legendary soiree, the Margarita caught fire across the globe and is known today as the most popular cocktail in the United States, and the undisputed official drink of the summer.
If you've never had a Margarita with Cointreau, a delicious orange liqueur, you are truly missing out. Check out the initial webisode below and for cocktails and more, visit www.cointreau.com or the brand on Facebook.
Dita von Teese is more than a burlesque performer in my eyes, she's a beauty and style inspiration. In fact, the lovely Jamie and I are planning a jaunt to Vegas in early April to see her perform at the Crazy Horse at the MGM Grand.
In preparation for my trip, I need to get my lingerie in order and first on my agenda is an a Figleaves order to shop the Dita von Teese Sparkle Teese collection forWonderbra(above).
This classically sexy collection boasts a tassle details and a little sparkle (where it really matters).
Sexy may be a state of mind, but the right foundation is certainly a boost to the confidence, yes?
Burlesque queen Dita Von Teese returned to the Crazy Horse on February 1st where she's presenting four new performances created just for the iconic Parisian venue.
For the all new version of her famous "Bathtub Show", Dita is wearing a black, hand embroidered suit with a 1940s inspired jacket with black satin collar and a long, straight cut skirt.
For the finale, Dita's dressed in an ice blue silk tunic, hand embroidered with blue and silver glazed metallic stars. Both looks are one-of-a-kind couture creations by designer Elie Saab. For a glimpse at Saab's renderings, take a glance through the gallery.
For those in Paris, Dita is scheduled to appear through the 15th.
Swarovski has teamed up with Fergie to celebrate the 2008 holiday season in style.
The festivities started last month when Fergie unveiled the 550 pound, 9.5 foot Swarovski Star (it's adorned with over 25,000 Swarovski crystals to boot!) that sits atop the famed Rockefeller Center Holiday tree that was lit last night in NYC.
Fergie also unveiled several celebrity-designed miniature stars created by her and other famous faces including Jennifer Garner, Ellen DeGeneres, Teri Hatcher, Dita Von Teese and many others.
The celebrity stars are currently being auctioned off at www.clothesoffourback.org with all of the proceeds going to the Clothes Off Our Back Foundation. The auction ends on December 10, so be sure to bid soon for a memorable little piece of Christmas!
Swarovski has also pledged to donate $250,000 from sales of its 2008 Annual Edition holiday ornament that are sold nationwide to Clothes Off Our Back, which really goes above and beyond.
So, this season - celebrate in style and give a little back!
