After evaluating my wardrobe, I've come to the conclusion that Wonder Woman has been a major influence on my style. No...wait...just listen. From my love of blue and red (paired together - that's key) to my adoration of large cuffs, the DC Comics superhero epitomizes power, strength and style.
So, imagine my excitement as I perused Women's Wear Daily today, and spotted the news that M·A·C has partnered with DC Comics to create a limited edition (of course!) color cosmetics collection featuring the illustrated superhero.
"Set for a spring 2011 launch at all MAC locations worldwide, the lineup is expected to include lipsticks, eye shadows, blush and nail polish ranging in price from $13 to $49.50. (No word on whether metal-deflecting bracelets are part of the collection.)"
Will you be lining up at your counter for Wonder Woman-insprired beauty?
Everything M·A·C does, I need to be part of, and that CERTAINLY includes the JUST-announced Venomous Villains collection.
Slated to release in late September, the limited edition color collection will feature four Disney characters, though mums the word on exactly WHICH villains have inspired Creative Director James Gager.
A short teaser video provides some clues (if you pay close attention, that is!) Take a look here and tell me, which Villian would you like to see immortalized in makeup?
LOFT, long regarded as Ann Taylor's more casual little sister, has for years served a clear purpose in my wardrobe. Always office and wallet-friendly, I relied on the store for tried and true basics, but not for statement and style making pieces. But a new design team at LOFT has turned things around and this Spring, several goodies have piqued my eye and inspired me to open my wallet.
Thankfully, Fall 2010 appears to be continuing the trend! I had the privilege of previewing the collection a few weeks ago and the gorgeously merchandised line (I'd guess that LOFT's team took some styling inspiration from the amazing Jenna Lyons, creative director of J.Crew) is both fun and fabulous. In particular, I have my eye on a stunning red silk dress that was broken down with the perfect distressed brown leather belt.

The new Chanel ads, shot by designer Karl Lagerfeld and featuring singer Lily Allen, have surfaced. Created to promote the October launch of the Coco Cocoon collection, they're definitely targeted at a younger, hipper woman than the average Chanel campaign. I love me some Lily, so I can't complain.
To accompany the ads, there's a series of (very short) video shorts, including this one:
ForMAC's upcoming Make-Up Art Cosmetics collection, creative director James Gager (love, love, love) hand-selected three of his favorite artists - each of a different medium - to collaborate with.
Check out the gallery below for a sneak peek at the collections created in conjunction with photographer Marilyn Minter, illustrator Maira Kalman and painter Richard Phillips.
The collection will be released in August - stay tuned for more details!
A few months ago, I had the pleasure of meeting the amazing (and friendly)Jin Soon at her West Village Hand and Foot Spa. If you're not in the know, Soon is THE go-to manicurist for editorial work and a serious force in the world of female beauty entrepreneurs with three amazingly popular locations in New York alone. At the time, I couldn't say a word about the event specifics, but I can now spill the beans - MAC has tapped into Jin Soon's creative power to create the Fall Nail Trend collection.
With six bold and unique colors, this collection is a must. I've actually been rocking For Fun (below) lately, as it's the most summery of the bunch, but come fall, I will be tearing into the remaining five colors including Dry Martini (a dirty olive green) and Beyond Jealous (a dark, dark teal.)
The Nail Trend collection hits counters on August 27 and I definitely think that at least a few of these colors will sell out - so, mark your calendars now!
