There’s no time like the present to start getting the body you always wanted. Whatever that may look like for you, there are basic steps you can take to get there. Here are five keys to help.
1. Determine Your Ultimate Goals
While there are many plans out there on how to get a better body, there’s only one you. Take the time to discover the best way to go about achieving the results you want by first determining your ultimate goals. If it is fat loss, you’ll want to add cardio to workout routines. If you’re going to tone up muscles or increase muscle size, you’ll want to focus on resistance training. The foods you eat will also play a role. Determine your goals first so they can serve as your foundation going forward. Also, set a timeline to achieve specific goals. Maybe that coincides with an event you wish to attend, compete in, or lead. This will provide additional inspiration.
2. Identify Food and Nutrition Guidelines to Follow
Once you’ve identified your goals, you can start to narrow down how to get there, including what foods to eat. Identify food and nutrition guidelines for your particular goals and lifestyle. Schedule your daily workouts so that you make it a regular part of your life.

Sleep is the magic elixir in achieving the body you dream about. While sleeping, your body heals and revives itself, including from rigorous workouts. Establish a bedtime and find what routine works best for you to help you fall asleep and stay asleep. This may be a warm bath right before bed, reading a few pages in a book, or doing meditation.
5. Treat Yourself to Rewards
Finding ways to reward yourself along the way can help keep you motivated. These rewards should somehow connect with your goals, so make a list ahead of time. Perhaps you enjoy massages or a pedicure. Maybe you prefer a little retail reward and like to buy new workout socks or a swimsuit.
